====== Usage of Generative AI ====== Usage of generative AI models (genAI) is allowed within the limits of the [[https://www.informatik.kit.edu/downloads/studium/Guidelines_Generative_AI_Informatics.pdf|KIT guidelines for genAI usage]] as well as the **course-specific AI guidelines** outlined by us. In particular, we require submission of a **mandatory genAI usage declaration** (even if no LLM was used) for **all course or thesis work**. A template can be found [[:resource:declaration_genai|here]]. Note that the student takes full responsibility for any submitted content. \\ We want to emphasise positive use cases for genAI, such as: * grammar and style improvements * visualization (e.g. creation of TikZ pictures) * supplements for studying (e.g. pop-quizzes, flashcards, etc.) * literature research \\ If you are uncertain whether the usage of genAI for a specific purpose is permissible or how to declare your usage correctly, you can always reach out to [[people:start|us]]! \\ ---- \\ In exceptional cases, we might ask for a protocol of AI interaction, or invite the student to an additional interview after submission of their coursework/thesis to determine the actual usage of genAI. Serious deviations from the declaration of genAI usage, such as missing usages or false declarations of used models, may result in a failing grade.
